Digital technology in educational practices
9:40–10:20AM
Digital skills needed for learning and teaching at the college or university level
Today’s post-secondary experience is defined by the pandemic and distance education. We will seek to demonstrate how and why various digital skills are essential for creating innovative educational practices that support academic success for all learners – either in college or at university. To begin, we will describe the full set of digital skills that students and trainers should work to perfect, at the college or university level. Since teachers and trainers are decidedly key vectors for students’ development of these skills, we will also examine the effectiveness of the Digital Competency Framework as a marker in terms of educational practices, where digital technology is judiciously incorporated, and for encouraging every learner’s development of various digital skills. A number of correlations will be drawn, to both current research and projects examining digital technology in education.
