Shedding light on the hidden side of “I teach remotely”
Because instructors were having difficulty making a quick transition from in-class to online teaching during the pandemic-induced lockdown last spring, the ministère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur asked Université TÉLUQ to develop training that would familiarize Quebec’s teaching staff with distance education. While Université TÉLUQ stakeholders and their many colleagues quickly – and very enthusiastically – got down to the task at hand, creation of this training (accessible at https://jenseigneadistance.teluq.ca/) and multi-stage delivery over a four-month period was, in fact, not an easy task. Our presentation will cover the difficulties we faced, the tips and features that helped us execute our mandate, as well as the challenges and restrictions encountered in our efforts to produce, on an urgent basis, a three-pronged training program for the 130,000 stakeholders working at the primary, secondary and post-secondary levels.

From design to coaching for an asynchronous self-contained course: the Cégep à distance model
Over the past few months, most of the teaching world was plunged deep into online and distance education (FADEL), thus offering students a different learning experience.
A Cégep à distance team with varied expertise – ranging from e-pedagogy to design, content, method and coaching – has been thinking about, designing and analyzing this experience since 1991.
We would like to share this process with you and illustrate the full range of options available through FADEL. Based on our example – creation of a college-level French course (writing and literature) – we will suggest a few avenues to pursue and good practices to adopt in an educational setting that many of you are now somewhat accustomed to.

Four academic heroines of the COVID-19 pandemic recount their experiences
Instructional designers and educational advisors in institutes of higher education usually work with a small number of professors who choose to innovate and seek help from experts. In the midst of a pandemic, these experts became the "first responders" tasked with supporting the pedagogical and digital conversion of all courses. They became the "academic heroines and heroes of COVID-19." The four participants in this roundtable – Judith Cantin of École Polytechnique de Montréal, Céline Leblanc from Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières and Marie-Julie Babin and Émilie Casista from Université Laval – discuss their team’s central role in helping faculty deliver equitable, high-quality education to students. They will share strategies for overcoming challenges that arose from or were heightened by the174 pandemic, as well as their successes and their recommendations for better preparations, looking ahead to the Winter 2020 session.
